Visual Studies Advising
Prospective and current students can contact Matt Weed with any questions or concerns they have about the program. The Program Director, Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw, is the primary advisor for all Visual Studies majors. Everyone signing up for the major must see her to complete the process. She will be responsible for certifying the completion of requirements for graduation, and will also arrange for the junior/senior seminar and must approve the faculty advisors for the senior project. The Program Director answers all questions concerning which courses can be counted toward the major. Dr. Shaw's Fall 2007 office hours are Fridays 12-2pm, and by appointment. You can sign up for office hours in the History of Art Department in the Jaffe Building. Majors who have decided on an area of concentration should seek advice on course selection from individual faculty members in the program, or from the various sector advisors: Gary Hatfield in Sector A (Logan Hall 425), Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw in Sector B (301 Jaffe Building), and Julie Schneider in Sector C (114 Addams Hall). The Program Director can also offer advice on course selection throughout each student's years as a major, will appoint the advisors for the senior project (with student input), and will interpret the program requirements.
