Eleven students traveled to London from the 16th to the 20th of February in order to observe various interpretations on how to install Polynesian and ethnographic art. As a group, we visited the British Museum where we paid close attention to the installations of Polynesian and African art. We also toured other galleries of the museum, viewing some of the historically April 15, 2006 11:21 PMe. We got many ideas of what is we like, and what we don't like, in terms of exhibition design.The group also traveled to Oxford where we toured some of the colleges of the university and visited the historic Pitt-Rivers Museum. The Pitt-Rivers posed a contrast to the British museum, giving the students exposure to a 19th century style of museum installation. On our time off, we enjoyed the great city of London, shopping and sight seeing.
