This course will introduce major European and North-American artists and movements of the twentieth century, from 1945 to the present, and their relation to other modern cultural and historical developments. Some of the art movements will consider will include pop, minimal, conceptual, political, land and performance art accompanied by the appropriate theoretical readings.  At least three classes will be held at the local art museums and galleries.
