This seminar will address issues of artistic and architectural interaction in Kashmir, the Indian Himalayas, and Pakistan's northwest. Gandhara, the Salt Range, Kashmir, Himachal offer a methodological challenge to questions of orthodoxy, originality, and transfusion. Students will be expected to develop bibliographies, review and evaluate the history of scholarship, construct questions, choose an area for research, and attempt to advance knowledge.
