Greek Cities in Roman Asia
Instructor: Professor Ratte
W 3-6

This seminar examines the "Romanization" of Greek-speaking western Asia Minor. How did the well-established and sophisticated civic culture of this region respond to Roman rule? How did the cities themselves embody or enact this response? Architectural and urban issues will be emphasized, focusing on topics such as city planning, building patronage, and the architecture of the imperial cult.
