The Committee Chair, in consultation with the candidate and with the
approval of the Graduate Chair, names a second official dissertation
reader (and, optionally, additional official readers) and defines the
role of the reader(s). Official reader(s) usually review a complete
draft of the dissertation after it has been read by the supervisor and
report(s) recommendations to the candidate and supervisor. The
Dissertation Committee comprises the Committee Chair, the official
reader(s), and the Chair of the Graduate Group. A majority of the
Committee must be members of the Graduate Group.
