Instructor: Kostis Kourelis
TR 9-10:30
Course Description
This course consists of an introduction to the history of architecture
between the first and twenty-first centuries. In addition to a general
developmental narrative we analyze twelve major monuments as both
products and documents of their historical environment. Each case
study features a specific aspect of architectural production, reception
and dissemination which will form the basis for discussion. The assigned
readings and writing exercises intend to provide the students with
some basic analytical skills in interpreting buildings as cultural
artifacts. |
